Soracom Arc
Soracom Arc provides software-defined cellular connectivity using the WireGuard protocol. Devices connect to the Soracom platform over any IP network — WiFi, Ethernet, or another cellular connection — using a virtual SIM. This eliminates the need for a physical SIM card while still giving access to all Soracom platform services.
What it does
- Virtual SIM: Creates a software-based SIM identity that authenticates devices to the Soracom platform
- WireGuard tunnel: Establishes a lightweight, encrypted tunnel from the device to Soracom
- Platform access: Enables use of Beam, Funnel, Funk, Harvest, and other services without cellular hardware
- Hybrid deployments: Complements physical SIM fleets with WiFi-only or Ethernet-connected devices
- Cross-platform: Works on Linux, macOS, Windows, and embedded systems with WireGuard support
Common use cases
- Prototyping and development without physical SIMs
- Connecting gateway devices on WiFi or Ethernet to the Soracom platform
- Extending platform services to devices that lack a cellular modem
